The explanation of the title brelson is something like thus: The actual title and thinking behind 'Voice Of Grandmother' is to do with a native american 'spirit' grandmother (remember that the Red Planet series has a deep connection with Native America ... See full review

'Kao-Tic Harmony (Relic Of Relics)' was actually mixed by both Derrick May and Carl Craig.

Init! What the hell was up with the Dick Van Dyke vocals on this release? Did Pretty Tony think that was cool or something? I've seen this happen, producers from the USA adding these DVD style vocals, quite a few times with records from the 80s. Weird. ... See full review

Damn, did anyone else read the sleeve notes for this release? Juan talks about an unreleased Cybotron track that they did called 'Shuttle Flight '. He also mentions Derrick May having something to do with it! How I would love to hear that!

"Yes, its a an anthology of Techno's most important producer. Yes, it's lavishly packaged and yes, it's stupidly rare now, but I've never figured out why so many of the tracks are little more than snippets (why chop "Emanon" in two, for instance?), ... See full review

Note that 'Icon (Montage Mix)' is a different version to the same titled mix that appears on the '93 'Virtual Sex' compilation on Buzz Records. It starts out with additional strings and is also shorter than the version on Buzz Records. But what a track!

What an absolute beauty 'Zephyr' is! It's certainly one of the best Detroit Techno tracks of 1996 as far as I'm concerned. But no doubt discovered by most first via the classic 'Real People: The Detroit Techno Album' on React Records from the same ... See full review

Out of all the many numbers of Juan's own back cat of tunes that he could've picked he goes and leaves out the essential 'Techno City'. I, for one, would've thought it would be one of the first on his list to add. Weird, eh? But it surely has to be ... See full review

I'm just curious...what's "poor" about the Juan Atkins remix of 'Wiggin'? I personally think it's very good as with all Juan's tracks and mixes over the years.

It should be noted that Michael James also co wrote 'Dreams Of Dreamers' with Derrick May. He should certainly be a lot more well known than "that guy that did the piano part" on 'Strings of Life'.

Respect Michael.

Yes, it is definitely a shame that the 'Smooth' mix wasn't included on the UK pressing. Then again, as enfore quite rightly says, the sound is a lot better quality. My advice? Buy them both and you win/win!

Come on, be honest now, do any of you real and true Detroit techno bods actually like this track? I always found it far too commercial for my taste. For me, it's Saunderson's weakest track along with the truly terrible 'Dear John'. Sorry Kevin.

I agree that it's funky (as only Detroit can do), but the somewhat tacky vocals spoil it for me. The House mix on the 12" version is a lot better and nearly all instrumental.
